Suspect Cells

I'm a 65 year old woman who on 6/12/19 went to Drs with post menopause bleeding (approx 2 mths) the dr referred me via fast track to gynaecologist. Had scan, biopsy and polyp removed and MRI scan.  Had second biopsy of lining of womb. Saw consultant yesterday who said the first biopsy was inconclusive but showed abnormal cells.  Second biopsy showed again abnormal cells.  He advised hysterectomy and said it would be within the month   Scary thing today received phone call with date to have operation on 19/02/20. I'm really worried is this normal to be so quick I'm worried there's more to it.  Also is abnormal cells considered as stage one any advice very much appreciated.

  • Hi,

Yes, such speed is normal, you will feel like you're on a runaway train and waiting for answers will feel unbearable, then you will have your hysterectomy and follow up and you will be so knowledgeable about everything that you will feel calm and glad that it was done with such speed. Abnormal cells are the earliest stage, so getting them out at this stage is ideal. You will also meet lots of other people who will be able to support you, having been there themselves.  I recovered from my hysterectomy and was back to work as a nanny to three little boys within a month!

    Good luck!
