Hi,
Read the threads on breast cancer in these forums and you will learn that it isn't necessarily going to mean the end of life as you know it. Treatment is so advanced today that people are alive and well years and years after getting it.
You just need to listen to what your mum wants you to do. My children have been very supportive, in fact a bit too supportive some times but now the months have gone by since my first diagnosis and I've had the surgery and am getting on with life as usual they are not as scared ( or as fussy about what I could and couldn't do) as they were at first.
She doesn't need to be worrying about you at this time, so be strong and things will work themselves out.
