Triple negative breast cancer

Hi, I'm July 2017 ages 46 I was diagnosed with grade 3 her2 and oestrogen positive cancer in my right breast, I had 6 very brutal chemo sessions and an additional 15 rounds of herceptin (unfortunately all treatments I suffered with terrible side effects. I was discharged july this year (2019), I was then sent for a ct to check a lung  nodule hadn't changed (it was fine) but ... it was spotted that I had some shadows on my left breast, in august I was then diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. I've just had my surgery last week. I'm absolutely terrified of the chemo I will have again and what it has done to my body (chronic pain from top to toe). I have also been told by my surgeon/radiology consultant that having 2 different primary cancers in each breast is very unusual and not often seen. Has anyone experienced this or know of it ?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Chessa.

I'm sorry to read of your latest diagnosis, especially after everything you've been through with your previous one.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will share their knowledge and experiences with you soon but whilst you wait I just wanted to wish you all the best with your upcoming chemo. We will have everything crossed that there will be less side effects this time around.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Chessa,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you have been hit by a second primary of a different type from the original. I was first diagnosed with Mucinous breast cancer in 2010. The following year I had a second primary in the same breast, but it was the same type of cancer.

I hope that someone will come along, who has been given the diagnosis of 2 different primaries. I can fully understand how you feel about further chemo. Have you discussed the problems you experienced with the chemo you had with your oncologist? There are other types of chemo, which may not be so hard on you.

I hope that you can get something which doesn't cause the same side-effects.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
