Breast Cancer

Hi I'm a newby just thought I would say hi:)

  • Hi Julianna

after 5 weeks and I'm all healed up still waiting for onco results. That means high score chemo as well as radiotherapy.  I was stressed out at first. Now it seems as if it's all happening to someone else.   We need to know our plan as quickly as possible. I'm South Shields. Just relax and try your best to put it all behind you for now. We will face the music probably in the new year now

  • I wish you all the best . The being in limbo is horrendous.
wish I could relax a bit , but the shock just keeps coming back x

  • Julianna

The waiting part is definitely the worst.  I was told on 19th September I had a grain of sand size of cancer and was booked in for lumpectomy and lymph node removal on 1st October.  I had the operation and then told results would be on 30th October.  On 30th October I was told the tumor was 3cm in diameter and had spread into my lymph nodes and that I would need a complete mastectomy.  Due to complications from the lumpectomy I didn't have the mastectomy until 4th December so am now recovering.  Last week I received my hospital letter for results and this is now 7th January when I will be told the next stage of my treatment.  It seems my life has been on hold since my Mammogram recall letter the first week in May, it certainly is a long road we have to follow but wishing you well when you get your results.

    Rosie x

  • Bless you . All this waiting is pure torture. I wonder how they got things so wrong. I am so sorry that this has just prolonged everything for you x

  • Hi, I'm a newbie also. Diagnosed with breast cancer on 18th December ️  How are you doing? X

  • I feel your pain, biopsy's taken on 18th December & no results until 2nd January, waiting is torture

  • Are you managing to keep yourself busy? I can't go to work as I am a staff nurse and save lives . I can hardly think straight. What should be a wonderful time is now a living nightmare x

  • Hi Jax

i had to chase onco results after waiting 5 weeks for an appointment with oncologist. To be told the score was low and I won't need chemo. Would have been nice to be told but I'm relieved at the news.  Hope you are keeping your spirits up.

  • Hi Sandra - so glad that your results show you don’t need chemo :). I have tried to ignore this all over Xmas - been really hard but dog walks on beach have helped. My hubby has been off work too for xmas so I think we have pretended this was not happening. He goes back to work tomorrow and this has hit me hard - Makes it all real again :( - I get my final treatment plan 7 jan and then pre-op assessment 9 Jan. - no boobs and bald is my fear - sounds really shallow but it is my worst fear. Sorry, having a bad night as have to face reality now xmas is over xx

  • Hi Caz - good luck with your surgery on 7th Jan. I am in clinic for my review appointment to get my final treatment plan on 7th!  And then pre op assessment on 9th so assuming my surgery will be pretty soon. You sound so brave opting for double mastectomy- I have cancer in both breasts but still hoping for lumpectomy, however they biopsied for second type of cancer which may mean mastectomy is only option. How do we deal with this? My sis in law has had double mastectomy however and she cooed fantastically so I am probably just being a wimp and I can see the logic in opting for mastectomy. Hope all goes well xxx
