  • hi Hazel,

Thank you for your post, it's great news that you are now well again after your long journey back to good health. l'm just about to start my journey, as I'm waiting to hear about my next appointment with my consultant. l had a PET CC scan on Saturday.  Unsure what my options for treatment are at this time, but l have been reading about PROTON  Beam Therapy. Do you know could it be used for my head & neck cancer? Any advice would which you may have would be gratefully received.

I'll let you know how things are progressing as soon at l can. But I'm very worried at this time, just not knowing what's ahead ....

    Kindest Regards,

    David.

  • Hi David

proton beam therapy is not usually used in head n neck cancer. There are at the moment onky 2 n h s places in U.K. London snd Manchester. MIT has been done as a study that we wouldn’t benefit st this moment that’s no to say in future years things won’t cgange. But it’s only used if we get s reoccurrence of h n c snd tge patient fits the isntl criteria. So it’s basically a a back up if the traditional and tested route fails after all other routes have been exhausted. Unless you’ve pots of money and can pay private in Switzerland !!!

The ususl  route has a pretty good success rate

Any questions please ask good luck welcome to the club no one really wants to join !

dont worry easy for me to say been there done it the treatment can be brutal recovery long but outlook good. She says having biked over  800 km in last 2 months  living my life once again and I am a wimp who cries st a broken nail  you can do this positive mental attitude
