Relaxed and ready but tablet problems...

Hi all,

Had a lovely relaxing week away on a cruise and now ready to start my Radiotherapy therapy on Monday.....feeling very nervous but hoping it's not going to be too bad.....

What a nightmare I'm having with my tablets,Oncologist said Tamoxifen then said no and put me on Letrazole but hasn't told my GP who has only got info on me going on Tamoxifen and dispite GP emailing her no reply.... so GP has kindly given me a week of Letrazole Femara as they are the purest and as I have Multiple Sclerosis this brand should hopefully give me less side effects ..... any thoughts or experiences on them I would be so grateful,I can't take more pains than I already have from my MS

Love to all xxx

  • Thank you wonderful lady, all noted and appreciated.

You have a fantastic weekend xxx

  • You are more than welcome lovely,we all need to help each other through this crap journey we didn't want to go through .....

Another thing at my hospital it's take a dressing gown change into that,go in for your rads and then back to change again.

What I'm doing is just wearing a loose top with no bra on and straight into room for rads putting my top on chair in there and then top back on and home without a bra on,can't be doing with all that messing around lol

Enjoy your weekend,I'm relaxing ready for next week

  • Hi Jackie the hospital said try not to stress too much about being late as they can always fit you in, which makes me less anxious about travel times. Bought a big tub of E45 so that should keep me going!

Have a good weekend, we are getting our flu jabs tomorrow (it's all excitement here)

Glad everything is going well for you

  • That's good advice Jackie about the bra situation. I think they give you a sleeveless top at my hospital which unbuttons and covers up the side not being zapped. Are you finding a bra hard to wear at the moment, was wondering what's best style to wear during the treatment period?

    Lots of love Mary xx

  • Hi Mary,

I was late the other day due to traffic but they were great, the lady who was due in after me went in at my time and I went in straight after so I shouldn't have worried at all.

Yes slap on the E45 cream, one week done and no burning or anything yet unless it's still too early? but they put a piece across my boobs which I thought was maybe to help stop the burning but when I asked they said it was to protect my modesty lol

They played ABBA while I was in there today!! I'm relaxing this weekend to be ready for the same routine all again next week!! So far so good.

Exciting lives we live at the moment lol

  • Hi Mary,

At my Hospital they don't give you anything apart from a piece of paper when all measurements are done everytime and marked with felt tip pens!!
I'm still wearing sports bras because have been told definitely no underwired bras at all....

I have bought some non underwired but am finding the sports ones so much more comfortable!!

    Much love Jackie xx

  • Hi Jackie bet it's a great feeling to get one week done with, well done and sounds as though you are doing well with it. Wonder if I will get music when I go Have got some comfy non wired bras to wear. Would imagine the wired ones would be too uncomfortable.

Make sure you do nothing but relax this weekend ready to do Week 2. Will you be ringing the bell when you have finished? When I was having my CT and planning session on Monday there were a few ladies who came out and rang the bell for the end of their treatment. Everybody clapped and cheered.

    Love Mary xx

  • Hi Mary,

Yes pleased 1 week down but wishing it was 1 day to go as the travelling is tiring and all the traffic!!

I think they all have music, but when they are setting you up they are so busy talking about numbers to make sure you are in right position and when they leave you alone you don't get long to listen to the music as it's over so quickly!!
I have been told that the tiredness will really start to hit next week but will wait and see.

Im not sure about ringing the bell? Don't want people looking at me I'd be embarrassed and in my stupid thoughts could or would it be a bad omen??
    Love xxx

  • I wish I was starting next week as just want to get started with it all. My journey too will be long and tiring and with busy traffic to contend with. Hope you don't find it too tiring. Have heard you get more tired as the treatment progresses. Are you driving yourself to hospital?

I'm not sure about the bell ringing, will wait and see at the end of treatment. Think I will must want to go home and look forward to Christmas and spending time with my family.

  • Hi Mary,

On my 1st day I had a talk with a Radiographer and he went through all about the side effects etc and yes told me tiredness is one of the main side effects even more as the treatment progresses but I'm hoping taking it easy through the treatment the tiredness won't be too bad! Also I've been drinking lots of water which I'm hoping will help as they also said to keep well hydrated!!

My husband and a best friend are taking it in turns to take me as my husband has a disability but different to my Multiple Sclerosis.

I am not at all sure about ringing the bell but will see how I feel nearer the end.

Its taken over my life these treatments now with the long trips there and back but it's gone and this will stop it coming back....
    Love Jackie xxx
