Relaxed and ready but tablet problems...

Hi all,

Had a lovely relaxing week away on a cruise and now ready to start my Radiotherapy therapy on Monday.....feeling very nervous but hoping it's not going to be too bad.....

What a nightmare I'm having with my tablets,Oncologist said Tamoxifen then said no and put me on Letrazole but hasn't told my GP who has only got info on me going on Tamoxifen and dispite GP emailing her no reply.... so GP has kindly given me a week of Letrazole Femara as they are the purest and as I have Multiple Sclerosis this brand should hopefully give me less side effects ..... any thoughts or experiences on them I would be so grateful,I can't take more pains than I already have from my MS

Love to all xxx

  • When I went for my CT scan for radiotherapy on Monday I didn't find the position too bad as my arms were well supported all the time. I expect you get used to it over time

Its a bit of a pain having over an hours drive to the hospital but I know they are an excellent place for breast cancer treatment and it's only for a few weeks. I'm hoping to be able to drive some of the time if I'm not too tired. There's no free parking so have bought a monthly pass which saves a bit of money

Hope all goes well with your treatment

    xx

  • You sound like you doing amazing, you ladies are keeping me positive.

  • Hi Mary,

My hospital does a cheaper weeks parking, instead of £4 a day it's £10 for a week which isn't too bad but the parking is a nightmare and has made me realise just how prevalent cancer is in our lives.....

Have you had your time planner yet? My times are all different and the early ones are a pain due to the traffic but the late morning and afternoon ones cut the journey down to 40 minutes!!
I must have short arms Mary lol as hardly any resting them on anything on the radiotherapy board....

  • You'll be like us soon JBee and old hand at it lol

Have you got your tablets yet or know what you are going to have to take?

  • Hi Jackie my parking cost £20 for the month so not too bad. Parking is a real pain and not many spaces. My appointments are all around 9.30 to 10.00am times so might get paramedic at that time. I darent run the risk of being late so expect it could be quite stressful!

Will let you know how I get on with the arms when the time comes

What cream are you using? My Consultant just said to use E45

    xx

  • Good morning, still feeling good arms can stretch to the ceiling and my shoulder blade.  Just had two perfectly boiled eggs and slice of toast... and yay the sun is shinning.  No tablets yet, my follow up appointment is next week Thursday, surgeon on holiday but maybe consultant will see me and/or they just going to check sound sites.  I'm hoping I might get results, they said if they have them they can advise me, not sure if that's true without surgeon but will soon find out.  They suggested tamoxifen not read many good things about it but if that's what I have to have then so be it.

How you feeling today?  You really powering through these sessions, I presume you will have a break over the weekend.  How is your skin holding up

    Love JBee xx

  • Hi JBee,

So pleased you are feeling good but don't overdo it,gentle exercise!!

Look up what are the best brands of Tamoxifen which aren't full of fillers as they will give you the least side effects but then we are all different....

First week done and dusted now,so weekend off and now to relax over the weekend before it all starts again on Monday but have found drinking lots of water is helping!
So fat skin is fine, slapping on loads of E45 cream several times a day just don't like not wearing deodorant.....

  • Hi Mary,

My parking reduced cost is £10 a week...Parking is a nightmare at my hospital but at my hospital if you are late due to traffic they let the next person go in and you go in after so don't worry.

Im using E45 cream and so far so good, everything crossed it stays that way.

    Weekend off to relax...

    love Jackie xxx

  • Hi

noted and I will still be careful, thank you.  Great I will check the type of tamoxifen I didn't even know there were different ones.  You really are a great source of knowledge... again thanks.  I will keep in mind the E45 cream and water, although I drink lots of water anyway so that shouldn't be a problem.

Well done getting through the week, you deserve a lovely relaxed weekend.  Enjoy and chat soon

slap E45 cream on as much as you can and I've found that drinking water as soon as I've finished my dads it has really helped!!

    enjoy the weekend
