I have just started my first round of chemo using the cold cap, I found it quite uncomfortable and not sure if I will be able to tolerate it. Has anyone else tried this and will it get better.
Thank you

Hello,
i didnt coldcap but I do know of lots of ladies on my chemo forum who did and are glad they stuck with it....saying it got easier as it went along, I think the first one is a shock to the system.....good luck with it xx
Hi
It was definitely a shock I wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it was. I'm just not sure if I want to do it again. Did the other ladies have really bad headaches from this?
Sar
My first experience of the cold cap has not been a good one. My family are having mixed views on this. It's 3 weeks until my next chemo so I have time to decide.
Sar
Yes, the headaches were the main problem and why i didn't coldcap, I'm very headachy anyway....
may be worth doing one more? And see how it compares? X
Hi Sar,
I think i managed about 12 sessions with the cold cap then one day (it was really cold winters day and they left it on ages) I decided I just couldn’t hack it anymore.
I’m on round 22 now and still have kept my hair although it did thin out but has started growing back too.
sometimes they did it so tight that it felt awful but then other days it seemed fine.
my advice would be to try and stick with it but if it becomes unbearable just ask them to turn it off.
also make sure the cap they are using is big enough.
Sending lots of positive vibes xx
I have had the worst headache since I had the cold cap last Friday. It's been unbearable. I ended up in A&E on Saturday and the pain just won't go.
Oh no. That’s rubbish
I hope it feels better soon.
It did get to a point for me that I thought if I lose my hair it won’t be as bad as I feel. McMillan supplied me with a lovely wig just incase so I knew I could wear that if need be.
