Oh hunny, so wish you didn't have to join our breast club ... that's really hard to take in, esp with a little one ... but treatments have come along way ... have you got family support .. your going to need all the help you can get ... how's hubby taking it ... it will be hard on him too ..

If you get lots of emotions, just go with them.. get it all out, then get your pink vertual boxing gloves and got in the ring ready for a match ... wer all in there fighting with you .. you could ask McMillan if they can help in any way ... 

The hardest thing about cancer is it very rarely makes us ill in that early stages .. that why it's hard to comprehend.... my thoughts are with you .. so you get ready to kick it's *** ... how dare it ... together wer stronger ..  I'm tagging in @Marilyn  ... she's just getting to finish her treatment .. she's helped so many .. and is a wonderfull lass .. hopefully she'll pop on soon .. always here for a chat about anything ..

Oh crikey! You really have had a double wammy..... I'm so sorry you've had this diagnosis, it's a whirlwind isn't it....going from trotting along in life feeling ok to bang! Cancer!!! I kept feeling I was having an outer body experience...it wasn't actually happening to me....except it was...

i am glad you have a treatment plan in place, once your on it it's a relief....something is being done...you will be monitored closely to make sure your as well as you can be during chemotherapy, you will have to hand over control to the health care team ( and if your a control freak like me this will be difficult at first) 

will you be cold capping? I didn't....just shaved it all off a couple of days after first cycle....ask about NHS wigs , mine was lush! They do really lovely ones....

apply for your NHS free prescription card ( details should be in your info pack)  of course if you live in Wales it will be free anyway...your hospital may have free parking for your chemo days? ( mine did) 

If you need any dental work try and get it done before your treatment starts....

macmillian support is there should you need financial advice...

dont be scared to use the chemo helpline they give you, I put mine on speed dial!

take care of moisturising hands and feet...I used to slap it on and wear cotton socks and gloves at night....

i think that should do for now...you mind will be spinning as it is...but it's good to get your practical fighting head on....

Thanks to you both for replying, god practical info like moisturising and wotnot is so helpful, giving me a sense i can DO something. I just want to be here as long as possible as well as possible. If i could do it on sheer will and determine then I'd be sussed already! I will contact Macmillan, and thanks for the positive review of NHS wigs, and i'll have a look at the nhs card x

That's the spirit lass .. cancer doesnt want us strong ...it wants us to give up .. but you will get emotional at times but if your ready for it comming on, you'll be prepaired... we all get down days .. it's like a rollercoaster... but any time you get a down , just let it out ... you can say anything (Well almost) on here .. 

My granddaughter in pic is my world .. she was only 5 when I was diagnosed... I've fought every day, because of her .. you fight every day for your little one .. me and Marlyn are here most days .. well be there whenever you need a shoulder to lean on .. and believe it or not .. once we take it on.. there's even funny things that happen along the way ..

Just spotted your post and thought I’d drop by. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, it’s a bit of a rollercoaster this breast cancer thing.  I was diagnosed in March, I have two children aged 7 and 10.  I’ve learnt to take each day as it comes as things change all of the time. 

So i am half way through my chemo, I’ve had 3 out of 6 sessions, so thought I’d share what I’ve learnt , of course everyone is different. As the ladies have said try and get any dental work done before you start.  Try and increase your water intake as it keeps things flowing.  Moisturise when you can, I bought some nice moisturiser and some rosehip oil for my face and some  hand cream, I keep putting cuticle cream on as well, so far I haven’t suffered from dry skin and my nails are ok. 

Wigs, I was given a voucher for a wig, different hospitals do different schemes. If you can go and have a consultation sooner rather than later and they can match your current hairstyle. I got my head shaved 2 days after my first cycle as I wanted to take control of the situation.

Accept help, this is the hardest bit for me, I’m so used to being in control. But I’ve had to learn to just let people help.

My hospital also offer alternative therapies for those going through treatment, ask your chemo nurse if it’s something you are interested in to see if they do it. I’ve been having reiki sessions.

I was also advised to buy a timpanic thermometer to check my temperature.
