Grade 2 invasive lobular breast cancer

Hi ppl.

So I was diagnosed last Thursday with grade 2 lobular breast cancer and am now awaiting MRI so am not sure of the stage yet. Been told a lumpectomy/mastectomy depending on MRI result and a couple of lymph nodes, radiotherapy and hormone therapy for 5-10 yrs. My question is has any1 similar to me had chemotherapy too ? As it wasn't mentioned until I asked in which they said we wouldn't no until my MRI results. Was 43 last Saturday! Married and a mum to 3 children, daughter 16 son 14 an youngest son 7. Opp isn't bothering it's all the side effects I'm reading !!

  • You have to focus on the fact it is fighting the cancer for you. You need to make sure you rest and listen to your body. I was lucky enough to avoid chemo, but my sister had it for her breast cancer. She managed ok and had 3 small children. Just let people help you. Do you have a good supportive network of friends and family? Xx

  • I have 2 children and lovely husband,my sister came from my country for me to looking after me,i hope my body will be strong for that aggressive chemo, thanks a lot for your support

  • Hello lovely,

yesterday I was told 8 sessions of fortnightly chemo due to the size of my tumour too. Today it's booking a Covid test (again) before having a chemo portal fitted which will be 29th November. I came away with a massive amount of literature and a lot more appointments, ie visit the chemo team to ask questions, awaiting pre chemo tests date. Will life ever be the same again. However a little humor  from my meeting last night. Doctor says, "do you take blood thinners" I say No, "did you take HRT" I say No, then I swear he said "brass eyes" I stop and ask what drug is that ........ he shrieks laughing  "Bra Size" he says it matches the four candles story . Breast cancer nurse nearly wet herself laughing  x x x. Keep taking the brass eyes girls

  • Hi,so you done already op.How big it was your tumour and you feel now after mastectomy. It was spread to lymph node?

  • That's brilliant,has made me giggle xxx

  • I was diagnosed with stage 2 70 mm lobular breast cancer. I was symptomatic  after attending breast clinic as long ago as 2019. The team said the lumps under my breast were normal, but they were not. They left an IMN swollen inside my affected breast and did nothing. I was so dissatisfied with the astonishing negligence they wanted me to have chemo, radio hormones, and bisphosphonates. I already have a heart issue and chemo can cause damage to the heart muscle so I demanded a 2nd opinion. I wanted a PET Scan and they refused me. I have been given a PET Scan at another hospital and they are also suggesting that radiotherapy should be ok for the positive lymph node. They are also looking to check whether the cancer Oncotype was done and it should have been done there no matter the size. I know it was not. The other hospital will extend radiotherapy to the supraclavicle fossa to increase the area of transmission because chemo does not always clear lobular cancers. If I have to have it after PET Scan results of course I shall, but you should not risk toxicities that can create far more morbidities than cancer itself. They left me with symptomatic lobular breast cancer for over 34 months and then delayed the initial operation because they failed to read my pre op assessments (x2) and my medical records, that is sheer negligence .
