awaiting oncotype dx results

Has anyone had their results. And could they tell me what their grades, tumour size and node involvement were. Mine were grade 3, size 33mm, 0 nodes affected. I had a mastectomy and have been told that I would be on Anastrazole, but waiting on results on Oncotype DX to see if I would benefit from Chemotherapy. Very apprehensive.

  • Hi Ckrm

Welcome to the forum although I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with this diagnosis.

If you use the search function (magnifying glass in the blue bar at the top of this page) to look for "oncotype" you will find quite a number of posts where people are chatting about their results.

I've had a look through the forum and can see that [@Dragonfly46]‍ was on Anastrazole earlier this year and it looks like [@rileyroo]‍ may be due to change over to this treatment. Hopefully as I've tagged them into this post one of them will pop along to say Hello! and share their experiences with you.

If you'd like to chat to one of our team of nruses about your concerns then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello,

i was grade 2, 11mm and no lymph node involvement, and her2+ , I did chemo , and finished rads yesterday.....I'll be taking anastrozole soon....

Its not the end of the world if they suggest chemo ( although I know it will feel like it at the time) let us know what happens xxxxx

  • Hi Marlyn

Thanks for responding. I'm feeling very concerned about having Chemo as I am in my seventies and until this diagnosis of breast cancer I have really not bothered the NHS much in all those years. I have been pretty healthy and the thought of destroying my immune system for any amount of time leaves me nervous. My husband has COPD (another who until recently was very fit and healthy) and I worry about me catching something because of my depleted immune system and then giving it to him. We need to take care of each other and the thought of us both being unwell at the same time is worrying.

I have an appointment to see oncologist on 4th July so hopefully will get results then. xxxxx

  • Hi Jenn

Thanks for the info. I am just a bit bewildered by it all at the moment but hopefully once I get the results I will be able to come to terms with all. The waiting seems to be the worst part.

  • Hi CKRM,

I too am in my seventies with an ailing husband.

I am not sure what is going to happen with me. I have a tumour under the breast in the mammory fold and one in the breast. One is Oestrogen positive and the one in the breast is Triple negative. I have been on targetted therapy since January for the one under my breast - Anastrozole and Kisqali. I am seeing my surgeon next month so will hear what they are doing - she mentioned mastectomy in January but my oncologist thinks it is inoperable. I have had very few side effects with Anastrozole.

  • Hi Dragonfly

My mastectomy went well (June 3rd) and have had no pain just slight discomfort so I wonder what's to come with future treatment.

Can they not do a mastectomy and also include the area under the breast. I was offered lumpectomy or mastectomy but decided I just wanted the whole thing gone.

On another note, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 77 was given Tamoxifen for 3 years then lumpectomy and back on Tamoxifen. When we lost her she was 5 weeks short of 94! So not bad.

  • I certainly think that age is on our side.
