Just had a biopsy which was really painful as I have breast implants and they struggled to get it. They were confident it’s just a fibroadenoma but I’m still stressing. Has anyone been told it’s just a fibroadenoma and it turned out to be malignant?

Hi, I'm sorry to say this was true in my case.....but please don't automatically think it will be the same for you....I couldn't help thinking that they shouldn't have said anything at all until they had the biopsy results, as they got my hopes up...then to come crashing down.....
just remember....that this may well be a fibroadenoma for you.....try not to dwell too much, do you get results in 2 weeks? Xx
I’ve been following your story on here and can’t believe what you’re going through. I know it’s rare but the worry of that is still strong. Was your lump smooth and oval like they expect a fibroadenoma to look like? X
How are you now? X
My chemo was stopped after 4 cycles as my side effects were in danger of becoming permanent. I start rads and herceptin next week, still a way to go yet but I'm getting there! Xx
Absolutely awful. Sending you lots of positivity xx
Hi, just thought I’d give you an update. It was cancer! Had my lumpectomy 2 weeks ago and will start chemo in a few weeks!
I do hope everything goes well for you and treatment is not too upsetting or painful.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
Hi just wondering how u are now...I've been following this as I've been told I have a lump and 90% it's a fibroadenoma but am very anxious that that 10% means it will turn out to be cancer...I'm trying to console myself by saying even if it is these lumps are so small itll be dealt with and prognosis will be good...any reassurance would be appreciated..thank u
Go and follow my blog on Facebook ‘three kids and counting’ .... full of positivity and the full story! I think you’ll find comfort from it ️ ️ ️
Thank you and I will..hope your doing well
Can I asked you what were the changes that made you go to your gp?
I found a lump in my left breast about 3 months ago but ignored it and also stupidly pretended that I didn't notice that my nipple was slightly sinking on the side the lump is on. About 2 weeks ago I got pains in the area so felt around and realised the lump is much larger so went to the drs, I was referred to the breast clinic and saw the consultant yesterday, he felt around, found the lump and sent me for an ultrasound. The sonographer did, what I felt, was a rushed ultrasound nowhere near the lump and told me it was nothing, even when I asked if it was something swollen he just said it's nothing and rushed me out with a discharge letter.
I contacted PALS as I felt this was not acceptable, they called me today and the woman told me that the consultant has put it down as fibroadenoma.
I'm now so scared that it wasnt checked properly and it's more serious!
Sorry for the really long post but I just want to know if I'm being an idiot and should just leave it or push for someone to do something!
I would definitely go back. You know in your head/heart when something isn't right. I would push for a biopsy xx feel free to message to on Facebook (my blog is Three Kids and Counting)

I went back to my GP and he referred me to a different hospital. I'm currently sat waiting for my ultrasound!
Good luck! Hope it went well. Thinking of you x
Hello, I came across this recently, I'm having similar symptoms and will be going to the doctors. But I wondered what your results were if you dont mind me asking? Also, did you have a hard lump or soft? Hoping you're okay x
Hi
Unfortunately I'm one of the unlucky ones whose fibroadenoma turned out to be cancer . I wish there was an easier way to put it.
I like others found a lump before Xmas and was referred to the local clinic. All of the tests pointed towards a fibroadenoma but as a matter of course a biopsy was taken.
I went back for the results on Thursday expecting to be given the all clear. Since I had no reason to think that it was going to be anything different after my first appointment and that there is no history of cancer in my family I went on my own. I so wish now that I hadn't been on my own.:(
In walked the consultant, student doctor and cancer nurse. All I can really recall is the consultant say how surprised they were at the results from the biopsy and then talking about my treatment options (lumpectomy and radiotherapy). Talk about being in a state of shock! It took me awhile to catch on that they were telling me that it was cancer.
Its been a tough few days but I'm slowly getting my head together. A big thanks to family and friends:)
I think what I really need to say is that it doesn't seem to be the norm for a fibroadenoma lump to turn out to be cancer however there are always exceptions but these I think are few and far between.
I had hoped that this as my first post would come over as a bit more positive for those waiting for results however I'm not sure if it has, sorry.
Hi,
Just wanted to say I went to see the breast consultant today to get a lump checked over, although I was pretty confident it was a sebaceous cyst. He also agreed and the ultra sound confirmed it. Whilst there both breasts were given a thorough ultrasound, and to my surprise he found a lump in the other breast. I didnt even know it was there. He's pretty confident it's just a fibrodeama, but took two biopsys to be on the safe side. I'm not overly worried at this current time. If anything I hope I'll be another person on this thread with a confirmed fibrodeama, and itll reasure anyone new reading this thread.
Results are back in a week, so I'll keep you updated.
Hi MemeDeb,
Welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear that you have to be the 'exception to the rule'. You must have got quite a shock when you returned to the clinic for your test results. This is why I always advise people to take someone with them when attending a clinic, especially when getting any test results.
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years and can fully appreciate just how you felt when you were told. I am so glad to hear that you have good support from family and friends. Have you got a date for your lumpectomy yet? I hope that it comes through soon and, that all goes well for you.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi Superted,

I sincerely hope that you will be another person on this thread with a confirmed fibrodeama.
We are always here for you.

Hi Laurenevie,
Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear that you are having similar problems and, as we haven't heard from you for a while, I just wonder how you got on with your GP?
Hope all is ok.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi Jolamine,
Thank you for your kind thoughts and words of support. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday 11th with the results two weeks after.
I know now that the cancer is grade 2 intrusive cancer that is estrogen positive (might not be the correct terms but I'm sure you know what I mean). The support that I have received from not only family and friends but also from the staff at the hospital has been amazing ️.
Just need to now take it one step at a time and be positive..
Xx
Hi MemeDeb,
Not long to wait now, which is good. I am so glad to hear that you have had great support from the hospital staff as well as family and friends. It makes such a difference to how you feel about everything when you feel that your care team are right behind you. Most care teams throughout the country are outstanding. On the odd occasion that people are not so fortunate it is difficult to be so positive.
Trying to take everything in is just too much for now. Try to take things day by day or even hour by hour where need demands. Once you start your surgery, you will begin to feel much more positive, as you start to feel that you are moving forward.
I sincerely hope that all goes well for you on 11th. I shall be thinking of you and, am hoping and praying for a good outcome.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
