Stage 2 Breast Cancer - Advice?

Hi everyone,

so I have just recently found out that my mum has been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She’s had an appointment with the doctor a few times to discuss various types of treatment.

I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to share thier story on having stage 2 breast cancer? I would be interested in knowing what kind of treatment you chose, how long it took for said treatment to occur and the recovery process.

I feel it would be good to hear other peoples stories as I like to plan things and be prepared and hearing this will help resolve some of my own anxiety where I can then reassure my mum.

I think right now my mum is leaning towards having a mastectomy. Does anyone know how soon this would occur after diagnosis and how long the recovery will be?

Thanks for your help!

  • Hi Megan,

im stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma ( and mucinous) There are many different types of cancer cells and different treatments....do you know of your mums exact diagnosis?

First I had a lumpectomy now I'm on chemo with radiotherapy herceptin and hormone inhibitors to follow....

Hows your mum coping with her diagnosis? It's such a lot to take in but what I can reassure her/you is that once a treatment plan is in place you relax and get on with it...xxxx
