Awaiting biopsy results but told I've got Breast cancer

I found a lump two wks ago.

Within the two week period like my gp said I was seen by the breast clinic.

Had a ultra sound scan, lump is 3cm.

Had a Mamogram same day, confirmed lump was worrying and looked like cancer.

Had a core biopsy same day, x3 took.

Told I was 5/5 likely to have BC and to come back in a wk for biopsy results and treatment plan.

Macmillian nurse was there for last consultation, breast care specialist.

Am I in denial thinking my biopsy could come back not cancer?

They are saying the biopsy will confirm their diagnosis and get a treatment plan sorted.

Anyone had anything similar to me?

  • Found out today its stage two grade three.

    Having chemo first them surgery

Got mri first then meeting oncology I think it was called.

Need a clip put in the lump too.

  • Hi live life to the full

i hope you are well now and through your treatment

i am just waiting for results but they have booked the surgeon as they are pretty sure it is cancer

im so scared the waiting is terrible

    hipe you are doing well

  • Hi

I'm ok since my breast cancer diagnosis 2 years ago.  I had a lumpectomy & radiotherapy and now just take tamoxifen.  just had my second mammogram that was clear.

Just take one day at a time, I think the hardest part is waiting for the results, as once you know, treatment is then organised.  Those first few weeks were like a blur of appointments, but I got through it, it's all you can do.  There is a lot of support if you need it.  Focus on the positives in life and you can get through this, talk to others & don't bottle your feelings up.

if you ever want to chat, just send me a message xx

  • Hi, I am in my first chemo today (literally as it's quite boring sitting letting drugs drip in).  I have grade 3 ductal, receptor and herceptin positive, so chemo and hormone treatment before surgery.

I had an MRI which was to help them really ascertain the size and type and then a CT scan to check it had not spread (thankfully it has not).

The waiting is hard, but I just carried on with stuff as normal and that helped.

  • Hi

    Thankyou for replying

I am so glad you are well

  • Hello ladies,

I'd love to join you and make some cyber breast buddies

My name is Karen and I too have just been told I have breast cancer. 57mm mass. E+ her2- grade 3. Diagnosed last Thursday.
I have seen both the surgeon and the Oncologist and had MRI results yesterday. They are starting zoladex and letrozole hormone treatment Monday as apparently this is as effective for my tumour. Shrink the tumour and then surgery in 6-9 months.

    Onco typing being requested today.
I'm awaiting full body ct because the mass is over 50mm.

I actually work in cancer services as a nurse specialist so I am off work at the minute, tho I'm desperate to get back I have been told I have to wait until I am settled into treatment.

be lovely to get to know you all

    karen.

  • Hi Karen, I started TCHP on Tuesday, first session.  Feeling very queasy this morning though hsdn't been too bad before that.  Good to chat to you, hope you get your CT sorted soon, I found that a tough wait.  Take care, Linds

  • Thank you your reply linds

what is TCHP ? Sorry to hear you are queasy ️

Im not feeling too anxious about the CT, surgeon has said possibility of finding disease anywhere else is minuscule. MRI didn't show spread but they only scanned my boobs.

    sending gentle hugs x

  • Hi, TCHP is the wonderful cocktail of chemo and hormone drugs they have me on, sorry I don't recall all the names.   So good that the MRI didn't show spread and they also told me it was standard for any lump over 50mm to have a CT but spread risk very low.   Sounds like you are being seen quickly, that's good.  Take care

  • I should know really, I work in the cancer centre and teach nurses to give chemo lol

It's really good that they are moving quickly, they've rang today and  CT is Monday. My lump 'Larry' is 57mm -hopefully  not for long though

Hope you start to feel better soon. Did they give you metoclopramide ? Anti-sickness tablets x
