  • Hi WL , so sorry to hear you finding things tough at the minute . I’m glad that you are in hospital getting checked out this is the best place for you now . I also find that I get a bit down with each treatment but I look at it as one step nearer the end and I cross off the treatments on a calendar this is good for the kids too .

I too still worry about every little ache and pain and I mentioned this to my dr he told me it’s perfectly normal to have aches and pains on chemo . I would love to give you a big hug so sending you really good positive thoughts and I will say a prayer for you .

[@Jolamine]‍ I hope your son is doing well and he makes a full recovery, you must have got an awful shock . Hope you are keeping well also , you are a fantastic woman with all you have to deal with and still take time to talk to us too .

[@mejules]‍ hope you are keeping well too .

Thinking of you all and sending positive thoughts.

    Take care

    Hi Lorz,

I am delighted to hear that you are not carrying the gene and that you do not have cancer in your right breast. Treatments have improved a lot in the last 9 years and they are more aware of problems that can arise with treatment when you also have heart problems. I am glad to hear that they are going to test your heart before they operate. I hope that you can get by with only having radiotherapy and not have to resort to chemo.

Am I right in thinking that you only need to have a lumpectomy for your left breast? This sounds much better than you originally thought and I'm sure that you are happy that you won't be losing your breasts.

I hope that your heart tests turn out well and that you can go ahead with treatment when planned.

Please keep us in the loop. As you know, we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Lorz,

We all get the tissue removed at surgery sent to pathology to retest the tumour. They won't know whether or not you need chemo as well as radiotherapy until these results come back. It stands to reason that those with the larger or more aggressive cancers get priority for surgery, so it's good news for you if he's not making you a priority.

Wow, well done for losing 16lbs. It's not easy. I've lost 5 stones in the past 2 years and, have done this with a mixture of exercise and sensible eating.

I fully get your anxiety about having a general anaesthetic. I have previously stopped breathing under anaesthetic and now have to stay awake until I swallow the camera and associated tubes. I also have to use fibre-optic intubation, as I have a narrow wind pipe.

It's great news that you don't have the BRAC gene. This must be a great relief, given the family history in your mum's family.

Yes, they have said that there is a cancer vaccination in the pipeline, but it could still take many years before it becomes readily available.

I hope that you get an appointment for your surgery soon. Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much for the information I never knew that as when I had breast cancer 9 years ago it was aggressive tumour only 2 cm was told chemo then radiotherapy but the surgeon did say all changed now I never got my heart tested either they knew I had a wee heart problem  but I was okay my surgeon said because your heart can change they now make sure they phoned me today to go inn for a assessment of my heart but too short notice I have shopping getting delivered but have a nasty urine infection  which my doctor just phoned my chemist and I got antibiotics delivered as I am bothered with it from time to time he knows what pills to give me I now go next Wednesday by the well done that’s what I have lost over 5 but it’s took a year did the 3 day egg diet lost 5 lbs then I just make sure I’m staying off biscuits even diet ones if I have to wait 3 weeks maybe lose more weight I’m giving myself all the chances the guy explained it’s a blood pressure test blood test  and ecg of your heart never spoke about tread milli was 23 stone at my heaviest was depressed as had bad leg ulcer and I stopped smoking I then got down to 17 took over a year I’m now 15,9lbs which is heavy after reading in the papers all the time increase your risk of bowel and breast cancer I’m going to keep going 11 stone I would like to be. Good work with your diet  x

    Hi Lorz,

I have found that my care team are much more open with me now than they were 10 years ago and, you will probably find the same. When I was first diagnosed, I found that there was much more available to me than there was when my mum had cancer. Things are improving all the time, thank goodness.

My mum also had heart problems, but these were never considered, when she had her treatment. What a pity that you were tied up today and couldn't go in for your heart assessment. Still, at least you've got an appointment for next Wednesday.

There does seem to be a definite correlation between being overweight and some cancers, so it's definitely worth to perservering in trying to get it down. I still have a few more stones to lose.

I shall be thinking of you on  Wednesday and, hope that all goes well for you.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx

  • hi

sorry to jump in on topic.

i was recently diagnosed with stage 2 hr + and HER2- grade 3 with 1 positive node with a tumour size of 3.4cm.

i got no bone scans, ct scans, or full body scans as they deemed it not nessecary.

i recently started chemo on Friday but Wednesday before chemo I started to get an ache in my back (that mainly felt like a bruise), it’s not very sore at all, only a little bit when touched. I got my period on Thursday so I had put it down to that, however, the pain is still there, I am not sure whether to be worried  and I don’t know why I haven’t had any full body scans , and I’m nervous now thinking that it has spread , I’m probably freaking out over nothing I realize this - I guess I’m just anxious cos they felt there was no need for scans and I don’t know why this is

  • I am not sure about your kind of treatment but I would call you cancer nurse and tell her your concerns say also you want a X-ray as you have this pain in your back it’s worrying I got told I had a swollen lymph node too when I got ultra scan after biopsy in left breast there was no lymph nodes affected I had to go down to mammogram department to get right breast biopsy as unfamiliar skin tissue showed on mammogram it was scar tissue from 9 years ago I advice you to call them tell them your not keeping great and want reassured not spread I keep my fingers crossed for you x
