Hi Heath. Welcome to the forum.
I can fill in some of the gaps:
- (Joint) MDT is the Multidisciplinary Team. This is a team of doctors, surgeons, nurses, etc, who review all cancer cases with a view to finding the most appropriate treatment options for each patient.
- Oncology is the what most hospitals call their cancer dept (you probably knew that already) .
- PGH has got me stumped. It might be the hospital's name, or maybe your consultant's initials. I can't find any obvious definition for that.
So putting all this together, my best guess is that this is where you will meet one or more consultants and/or surgeons, and where they will put you to what they consider to be your best course of treatment.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2010 and had a radical prostatectomy. I recall after my diagnosis I had an joint appointment with an oncologist (who recommened surgery), then the surgeon who was going to do the op, then with a researcher who doing research into prostate cancer. Quite a long morning!
This is always a frightening time but it usually gets better once a course of treatment has been worked out. Please keep us posted with progress. We're here to help and support.
