Hi London1
You will find if you post this in your previous thread folks will see it and come along with advice/opinions, as it it comes up that there is a new posting on thread.
Most of the posters I`ve seen on here have not been given choices like you. So I can understand that you feel the need for advice from folks with expreience.
From what I`ve read the robot/RT is the common choice and has very good results and gets a lot of praise from folks.
Best wishes and good luck.x
Hello London . Although not tonsil cancer my husband has just started treatment for voice box cancer or as termed cancer of the larynx. Contained with no spread . He to was offered both choices like you . My husband has chosen the radiotherapy route although it has more of the nasty side effects he was told in his discussion with the oncologist & surgeon that more surgery and Lazer has the possibility of damaging his voice . I’m not sure if this will happen as yours is tonsil but it may be worth asking the question. There is a lesser chance of voice damage with radiotherapy. Good luck London I hope you have a quick recovery . X
thank you for your reply , we thought at the weekend we would opt for robot surgery but since speaking with surgeon yesterday now thinking maybe radiotherapy and chemo because why have surgery if your going to get the same results with out it.Meeting with oncologist next week.So let’s see what he has to say.The sooner the treatment starts the better .
It’s all so much information to process isn’t it. Just ask the pros & cons of both options and then make your own decision . Treatment will be swift I’m sure once you decide what to do . With my husband it was within a week he had his mask fitting & a few days later he started treatment . Day seven today and all ok . You won’t be far behind him . All the best .
Hi London 1 if you opt form radiotherapy n chemotherapy i had that route and my blog does go into more detail .I am 8 month post radiotherapy the treatment is brutal but the end result is postive ,are you h p v 16 + I was and it does help .think we have posted on a previous thread .

I read and re read your blog I find it so helpful . My husband doesn’t want to read anything but I need to prepare myself for what’s to come as I will be looking after him . I’m sure I will be reading it many more times over the next coming weeks . ! Thank you x
Hi Ginpo,
you are most welcome ,glad it’s helping. I did it to start with to help my family and friends ,plus I found it was the only way I could have a modicum of control over what was happening to me .Being a control freak I needed that ,Now I have had over 4500 views from Australia to Africa which is pretty scary But if it helps anyone at all that a bonus in my eyes.
good luck with your hubbys treatment ,hope you found my hubby contribution helpful as it’s just as hard if not harder for our other half’s as we the patient get all the attention .
