New diagnosis

I was diagnosed with stage 2  breast cancer last week. Over the years i have had cysts removed but was still shocked. A scan has been done and the cancer hasn't spread so I am a bit calmer. Hopefully I will have surgery next week but to say Im frightened is an understatement. The nurse said the op is not too painful but I 'm not brave enough to read up about it. How daft is that?

  • Hi, sorry to hear your diagnosis, do you know what surgery your having? I had a lumpectomy early jan, and have to say ( for me) it was a doddle, up to theatre 11 am home by 5 pm and eating dinner.....

cancer is as scary as it gets...I only cope by looking what's in front of me now, I don't look too far ahead....take care xxxx

  • Hi I have stage 2 cancer which is 2 breast lumps and its spread to the lymph nodes. I have to have the breast removed.I think it's done in a day. I'm not sure how soon after the chemo starts. It's all a bit scary to think about at the minute and theres so much info to take in. Think the brains stopped working as well.

  • Hi crimson, I too was stage 2. Had op 3 rd jan, chemo started 14 th Feb, so pretty quick! Do you know definitely you will be having chemo?

I know what you mean about all the info...so much to take in, and I couldn't really, not all at once anyway.....

you can do this.....one foot in front of the other....there are loads of us bc ladies on here, and I know more will come along to chat...this forum has been a god send to me....xxxx

  • Hi Marlyn, thank you for replying. Can't really believe its happening so it's still a bit strange.Doc said I needed chemo and radiotherapy but just waiting to start. I have been waiting about 2 weeks so he wants to do the op next week. How are you after the chemo? Take care

  • Hi Crimson,

Just want to wish you luck with op. We’ve been diagnosed about same time with similar diagnosis.  I’m not sure I’m having chemo but expecting it.

    Xx

  • As soon as I knew I was to have chemo I just wanted to crack on with it, the sooner it started the sooner it would be over..

for me chemo knocks me about for the first week, then I rally and start to feel better in week two and three....ready for the next hit!

A friend of mine is a week ahead of me and she's hardcore, going to work throughout ( and even on chemo day) I think we're all different, I'm a bit of a wussy so not surprised it knocks me about.....

hope you get your op soon, will be nice to tick that one off xxx

  • Thank you. I think all areas and treatments are a bit different but all our fears are the same. Fingers crossed we are all dancing in a few months. keep smiling

  • I agree. Really dont want to think about it but the sooner the better. Im a bit uncomfortable now so we need to get started. I'd like to think i'm strong but im sure there will be a few more tears when it starts. x
