Hi there Helen ...
So sorry you've had to join our groop of Brest ladies on here .. there's a thread called the good and bad .. it was started by a lovely lass Sandra123 ... she wanted to put the high and lows at her journey.. lots of lasses have popped in and out .. and they might be more able to help as there's quite a few on there .. they make everyone welcome .. and talk about lots of stuff , not just cancer ..
But they all help support each other .. I had a grade 3 .. are you sure they said stage, because stage and grade are different .. and you know, we've not lost any regulars yet .. I'm nearly 2 years post masectomy .. and doing really well .. but the waiting is scary .. l think cancer wants us scared and frightened .. but together wer strong .. so I'll send you a pair of my old vertual boxing gloves. . Get them on .. step in the ring with us, and let's all kick cancers butt ...
Chrissie xx
Hi Chrissie
Thank you for the warm welcome I didn't realise there was a difference between stage and grade mine is a grade so I will relook at the difference. My mastectomy was 3 wks ago and so far I am doing well and are trying to get head round all the jargon and what it all means..
Thanks

Hi yes, I didn't know the difference between grade and stage for over a year ... thinking it was a different word for the same thing .. but as it was explained to me is grade is about lump .. stage is the other factors ... how far it is ... but they only told me my grade ...
You've done the scariest part now... so really look after arm where the lymph node was taken .. my scar never hurt, but my armpit ached for quite awile .. make sure you do exercise... try not to lift heavy things with that arm ... if you need blood pressure taken ask them to use the other arm ... that's what my surgeon told me ... my full result was .. grade 3 her 2 neg oestrogen positive ... because it's oestrogen based, I'm now on tamoxifen for 4 more years ...
There's some great " Brest friends " l hope may see this and pop by .. @Sandra123 @Rileyroo @ @jbains just a few of us thats been on here quite a while .
Hi Helen,
Welcome to the forum but also sorry you've had need to join us.
I was originally stage 3c at diagnosis (last summer), ER+ve, PR+ve, HER2-ve. Post chemo, mastectomy and axillary node clearance I found another lump on New Years' Day and was reclassified early January as stage 4, ER+ve, now PR-ve, but also now HER2+ve.
Our diagnoses aren't exactly the same obviously but actually your diagnosis can change with treatment as the receptor levels on the cells' surfaces can change. Sometimes chemo will work better on certain cells than others. Still, we are in almost the same boat so if I can be of any help please just let me know.
You mention having had the mastectomy, but have you had any other treatment yet or was this their first line of attack? If it was the first line of attack then I take it your initial diagnosis was stage 2? If you have yet to start other treatment then most of us will be able to give advice for undergoing chemo or radio.

Hi Helen
can I ask how you're getting on now please ? (Similar diagnoses- down to same number of 4/15 nodes positive and grade changed to 3 between biop and post surgery).
