AC Chemo & Cold Cap - Starting Chemo next week!

Hi all!

Ive been diagnosed with a stage 1, grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma with no lymph involvement thankfully !

Chemo starts next week and I’m terrified!

4x AC Then onto 12 weekly pax followed by surgery.

Has anyone has success with the cold cap on AC or should I not bother putting myself through the extra discomfort

Thabk you so much for any advice xx

  • Hello, I watched the YouTube of Victoria Derbyshire going through chemo, she wore the cold cap....I found it very interesting.....from what I can gather it doesn't work for everyone but some people have had success.....it's such a personal thing....

I get my treatment plan next week...eek!! Good luck with everything...  x

  • hi, I recently got diagnosed with triple negative stage 2 grade 3 invasive Ductal with no spread to lymph nodes thank god, I started my chemo today, I was planning on using the cold cap, but when I got there decided not too, I just thought I was going through enough as it was and personally I hate the cold haha, but it’s everyones personal choice, some people have said it worked for them, others have said they still lost their hair, so I just thought what will be, will be, and also sometimes not everyone lose their hair during chemo, I know a few people who haven’t, I did get mine cut shoulder length last night, it was very long before but I thought I’d prepare myself slowly. Good luck with everything x

  • also, I too was very nervous about starting chemo, but so far so good, I know it’s only day one of treatment, but all I’ve felt is very tired, and a not so nice metallic taste in my mouth, sherbert lemon drops really help with this! touch wood I haven’t had any headaches or sickness so far, I have been drinking a lot of flavoured water to help keep hydrated x
