are the professionals sometimes wrong?

My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer on wed we dont no what type if it has spread or anything we are thinking inflammatory breast cancer as she has a solid bright red painful breast she had a mammo wich didnt show anything as breast is so swollen she also had an ultrasound wich showed a rather large ABCESS. The consultant then took her into a room and said this sort of thing is common when breast feeding, at your age it is only caused by cancer... this is without the results of the biopsy..... but back in june she started with a rash under her breast on her tummy wich became incredably itchy and the skin under the breast split and this boob happened then so after a visit to out if hours the doctor prescribed some cream and antibiotics and everything cleard up!  The redness and pain totaly went away although she had the odd shooting pain... This was the end of sep beginning of oct... then at the beginning of december no rash but this brigh red solid painful breast has happend again this time antibiotics havent touched it but as i say they bave found an abcess on ultrasound and did drain a little out of it, so my question could he still be wrong? Or am i really just looking for a tiny bit of hope

thanks laura x

  • What a horrible time for you all. The truth is your not going to know anything until the biopsy results are in, anyone on here will tell you the waiting game is really the worse bit. We have to put our trust into the professionals, we have no other way...I know it's hard but it's true....you will get a lot of support on this forum, we all understand the fear of cancer. This forum has been my sanity since my breast cancer diagnosis. So I suppose my advice is.....steer clear of dr google ( it will drive you insane) try and keep calm, take comfort in the fact that mum is now in the system and on the radar....and that breast cancer doesn't have to be a death sentence....as many on here will testify.....

take care and keep in touch xxxxxxx
