I’m so sorry to hear this, I know how devastating this feels, we too lost my father three weeks ago, five weeks after diagnosis. I try and take comfort that he is no longer suffering, but know there are no words.
Hi I have recently had cancer of the oeasophagus and finished my radiotherapy in December I would be interested to know how it has changed your eating habits etc thank you jackie
My husband had immunotherapy and chemo followed by surgery, the surgery - Ivor Lewis - removed all of his oesophagus and a part of his stomach. His eating habits have changed drastically, certain foods can cause dumping, he can only eat small portions if he wants to be comfortable, he can't always tell he's eaten too much until it's too late, he has to watch what he eats as the valve between the stomach and oesophagus has gone, this means lots of acid can come up. All in all, life as we used to know it has completely changed but at least he is still here. His surgery was almost 3 years ago now and fingers crossed he's been cancer free for 2 years.
Thank you so much for replying I have only had radiotherapy but it is still so sore after 3 months my taste has changed completely all food makes me feel sick and I do not fancy eating anything I am hoping it will improve. They did offer me the same operation as your husband had but they thought it better that I try radiotherapy to see if that works jackie
