Diagnosed with Breast Cancer, awaiting Ct/Bone scan results

I have recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer, 5cm tumour.  I am due to start having FEC-T chemo,  6 rounds over 18 weeks.

In the meantime,  I am torturing myself thinking something else has been found on scans. My main worry is having been a smoker, could it have spread as secondary to my lungs. I am having all sorts of thoughts.

I am due to have my node biopsy on Monday. My ultrasound has shown nothing in nodes, and my consultant could not feel anything, but she wants to do biopsy to be thorough.

My BCN,  said to me on the phone yesterday she would let me know as soon as results have been received.

I am trying to be positive.  Wondered if any of you ladies may be able to share your own experiences of how you got through the waiting for test results. I honestly do not recall ever being so anxious about anything before!

If it is bad news,  and there is a secondary, I am not sure how I will cope.

Thanks in advance

Oh I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. So sudden and sad. I can only imagine how you are all feeling, so difficult to comprehend. Sending you prayers and strength to guide you through.

No idea how many lymph nodes, but will be having SLNB in two weeks, prior to 2nd chemotherapy.

In the meantime, I will let you know how my treatment progresses.

    Best wishes

    Xx

  • Hi Purple

I have just seen this thread. You have been through it where appointments are concerned! I just want to send my best wishes, you are sounding very brave and positive! I understand the internal turmoil though and we are all here for each other. X

    Hi Harvell,

Many thanks for your kind words. It certainly was a shock.

He had gone downhill very fast in the past few weeks. We had 3 different GPs out from his own practice in that time. They took bloods and said that he was anaemic and that his legs were swelling. All they did was to prescribe diuretics and iron tablets. It's hard to believe that all 3 doctors missed a cancer that was as widespread as this.

How are you getting on? I see that you have an appointment tomorrow to get you all set for treatment. I hope that this goes well and that your treatment is not too much of an ordeal.

    Kind regards,
    jolamine xx

    Hi Purple,

I am glad to hear that this session was bearable. I have been fortunate enough to avoid both radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but, from what others have advised, drinking plenty of water is a must.

Don't forget that the anti-sickness tablets can be changed if they are not working. Many seem to have to chop and change until they find the medication that works for them.

Please let us know how you are getting through this course as you go along, if you're not too tired to do so.

    Wishing you well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Harvell,

i am sorry that I am replying so late.  Thank you for your best wishes.

It really is a journey of ups and downs.

How are you doing with treatment? X

  • Hi Jolamine,

i am so grateful for your ongoing support and advice. I cannot thank you enough,

i do hope that you are managing to cope after the loss of your Father in Law .

i am through the worst post chemo 1 and remaining positive. The tiredness is still there but I am pushing myself as much as possible.

A small update, I had an MRI, results are good apparently, no signs of cancer elsewhere, appears to be contained to left breast  4.9cm. However, my Oncologist said the lymph had shown on PETscan.

i was scheduled to have a SLNB this coming Wednesday but upon MRI results, the team have decided to do an axilla ultrasound biopsy under local on Tuesday. My nurse said, they will keep the SLNB appointment until they’ve undertaken the axilla.

Unfortunately, I do not understand why this course of action has been taken. I am hoping that I do not need the SLNB under general.  I am concerned about recovery and then my 2nd chemotherapy the following week.

I do have an amazing team looking after me, however, I do feel things change very often a short notice.

I know my BC is hormone negative and HER+. They mentioned ductal carcinoma when I asked type of BC I have.

    Best wishes xx
