Stage 2 breast cancer and 2 lymph nodes.

Hi everyone

I'm after any help and information you can give. After being told I had microcalcifications on my mammogram, I have been told today that I have stage 2 grade 3 breast cancer. I am in total shock. It seems like ages until I get seen again too. I need to have a ct scan and a bone scan and I'm terrified that it has spread. I also had a biopsy of the skin on my breast as it is red from what I thought was an infection. I'm so scared. Please help.

  • Twin you are an inspiration to us all.

My GP didn't pick up on mine as the lump was below the breast not in it.

Took 4 years before anyone took me seriously.

I was diagnosed at the end of November, on my husbands birthday, and was put on Anastrozole immediately as I am 72 and it was ER positive. I know it is Grade 2 but not what stage. I suppose I haven'''t asked but it is in the skin and attached to the chest wall. They hope the tablets will dry it out and release it from the chest.

They have also found another spot in the same breast so have another biopsy this afternoon. Fortunately after that I can hopefully enjoy Christmas as my next appointment is 15th Jan. I have been told I will have a full mastectomy in the spring.

Meanwhile my mum who is 98 is very poorly in hospital but hope she will be out by Christmas.

Just keep smiling Luna. Whatever time we have will be spoilt if we just dwell on it all the time. I am taking it a day at a time and trying to keep it out of my mind if possible. It gets much easier when the test results are in and you have a plan.

  • You're my inspiration.......xxxxxxx

  • I am so so glad I found this forum, where would I be without all you gorgeous ladies....I actually think we are all awesome! Xxxxx

  • Marlyn, you are at the worst point in your journey.

Once you have the results and you hear a plan somehow it is easier to just hand it over to the doctors and let them do their job.

I have to admit I haven't asked too many questions because I want to hang on to the positives. The more positive you are the better your immune system!

We can go through this journey together and come out the other end xx

  • Good luck with the biopsy dragonfly. What an awful day to hear the results. A birthday I'm sure none of your family will forget.

I have a full day tomorrow, bone scan at 11, then consultant with some more results at 3.im hoping that they say the cancer is contained in the breast and axilla lymph nodes, at least then I know what I'm fighting and perhaps have a little peace.

I'm so glad I found this forum too. We have no idea who eachother are but the kind words and encouragement from strangers mean so much to me. knowing that we are all in this together makes us a force to be reckoned with! We can totally smash this together.

Hugs and kisses to all my new friends

  • Luna I really hope all goes well tomorrow.

Let us know how you get on.

    Thinking of you xx

  • To Luna and dragonfly and all you other beautiful lot.....we totally have this.....please post all your updates, it's good to compare notes.....I have just had a call to let me know my pre op is on Monday morning......what actually happens during a pre op? As I am now worrying they will find something and be unable to go forward with my surgery......see.....I can't win can I! Always something to fret about.....xxxxx

  • Hi Lunamuna

Firstly I'm so sorry for your diagnosis. Secondly I too am only 40 with my youngest child being just 6...so I feel we're your coming from with 'leaving your children comment' I was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2 non aggressive,  I started chemotherapy end of August it was hard but it'll be worth it in the end! I was diagnosed July 9th and first treatment was 28th Aug...so they do try and rush things thru. I too had to various scans, mri, etc which showed I have in 5 lymph nodes. Because of this when do my masectomy I will need abit of radiotherapy too.

Us women are stronger than you think and before you know it your treatment will be over.

Please stay strong and makesure you make a list of any questions you and family members want to ask, so you can ask at your next appointment.

  • Hi Marlyn - the pre-op is nothing to worry about, really. They do your bloods, blood pressure and a chest x-ray, weight, height and have a listen to your lungs - they ask questions such as 'have you ever had an anaesthetic and if so where you OK after it?'.

So you should be fine for your surgery.

    Good luck.

    Love, Helen xxx

  • Thank you for replying! Will be good to tick off another process in the journey ahead.....xxxxxxx
