Husband awaiting treatment for tonsil and lymph gland cancer

My husband was diagnosed with tonsil and lymph gland cancer.  It has taken quite a while to be diagonosed. He went to doctors end of September and then hosital and was told begining of November it was cancer.  The problem is its a very fast growing cancer he can hardly open his mouth and its getting worse every day, the pain is unbearable and he is taking a lot of pain killers.  He had his mask fitted last week and now has to wait another two weeks but because that is too close to Christmas he cannot start treatment untill 27th December.  He is beside himself with worry and pain and the fear that the longer you leave it it must become untreatable. By the time the 27th comes he will not be able to open his mouth.  Has anyone else had this sort of pain and problems before they started the treatment'

  • Hi,thanks Hazel/Emma/Ian for the well wishes.Managed to achieve my 2 Christmas goals,to go to the pub for a pint(cider) and to be able to manage a Christmas dinner. The thrush has just started to die down enough to achieve them and it brought just a little bit of normality back and God knows I need it.

Ended up having almost 2 pints in total during the day and 3 glasses of wine but my mouth knew about it later.Managed most of vegetables and a fair amount of Turkey although it needed graveyed mash to help it down! Had some Iceland cake desert stuff afterwards nice and soft and moist that went down easy so I'm happy with the effort.

Lifes not going to be the same again,I know, but at least I get to see some more Christmas days and  lots of our fellow patients won't get that chance so I do indeed feel blessed.

A very happy and healthy new year to you all.
