Welcome to Cancer Chat shell15.
Hopefully you will soon meet others here who can share their stories with you as far as having gone through radiotherapy and chemo to the head and neck without having a feeding tube fitted but until then feel free to contact others on the forum to ask about their experiences. If you use the search engine from the left hand side of the blue banner at the top of this page and insert 'RIG', or any term, it will show up previous posts which you might find useful to read.
Also, feel free to give our cancer nurses a call if you think speaking to them could help. Their lines are open Monday - Friday between 9 a.m - 5 p.m on 0808 800 4040.
Best wishes,

Hi I am 14 weeks post radiotherapy and I didn’t have a RIG I had a feeding tube for 45 day s in mid treatment
I have written a blog www.radioactiveraz.wordpress.com
i am61 year olds female who is a wimp if I can do it anyone’s can. Only thing I would say is if your consultant says yiu need one there is a fair chance that the radiotherapy will be covering both sides of your throats they don’t put them in lightly . Just because no it’s in as well de,emend yiu don’t have to always use it but it’s much harder on your body if uiubhave it whilst having radiotherapy as u are debilitated as it is. Just ask consultant reason why
any question just shout
