I'm really sorry that you join us at this distressing time. 

I'm not a doctor, but I do have a little knowledge of prostate cancer, and to the best of my limited knowledge, bleeding from the bum is not a symptom of the disease. Has he been told that this is part of his prostate cancer?  If not, then I fear there may be something else going on. 

In any case, he needs something to control this bleeding and I think he should go back to his GP without delay. If the bleeding is currently uncontrolled and severe then I suggest he or you phone 111 for advice.

When it comes to advice about prostate cancer, there are a couple of us here who've been treated or are undergoing treatment. However, there are also a couple of specialist charities which have good web sites where you might get some useful advice and information. The charities are Prostate Cancer UK, and Tackle Prostate Cancer.

I’m going through the exact same thing, I can trace my blood leaking for the last 3 years, heavy, the 2 years before that not so bad, I always thought it was a hole in my stomach from all the pills I was given to try ease things, I also thought it was lower back arthritis,I been diagnosed with the wrong thing for 5 years, 2 weeks ago the doc had a ct scan, there is a huge growth in my rectum, a few days later I did the colonoscopy, everyone is telling me it’s suspected cancer, I did the MRI on Thursday and will now go meet the surgeon doctors at 11 am, this waiting and guessing is driving me nuts, but, my family doctor called me in last week and said the biopsy came back showing no sign of cancer, I jumped for joy, however, reality  kicked in about a hour later, if it’s not cancerous what is it? It is a big growth, I seen the colonoscopy photos, nothing has changed? The blood is still there, I still use the washroom an average of 15 times a day, I still wake up with cold sweats, pillow and blankets are soaked, Fatigue, real bad, no energy at all, cannot work, all symptoms of the bid C but it’s not according to the biopsy,                                 Your Dad is going through so much, if he is like me, he is thinking out loud and saying things that is coming to his mind, I’m saying things like, it’s to much pain to go threw, I’m just going to ask how long to live and just ask them to make me comfortable while I pass away, and I’m hoping it comes quick, stupid thinking, mabe you and your dad already know this but I’ll tell you what I did to feel better, the painkillers I’m on help with the pain but going to the ER a couple of times so far, they hook me up to a IV and replenish my blood I guess, what ever is eating away at our bodies and kicking it out with the blood is draining us, after the IV I feel like a new man, by the way, I’m 55 years old, I’m getting on a plane at 9 bells tonight but will go ask for that IV before I board the plane, so I hope I can help use out and see if you can get your dad to the hospital and ask them to hook him up so he can get his vitals back,?his blood back to normal, it lasts about 24 hours and then I’m not thinking stupid, I’ll add you as a friend and let me know if it helps, he got nothing to loose other then feeling better, good luck, and if you need to unload I’m here for you,     Jack

My Dad had now had the camera/biopsy into the stomach and up the bum. He was so scared!. Seeing my dad like that is worse that knowing he's got cancer!

The last test was yesterday and now it's just a VERY LONG wait for the results on 29th.

My Dad has already said he doesn't want surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy. He believes it will make him FEEL worse and would rather live his last days without feeling even more poorly. 

I don't know what to say to change his mind? I suppose we won't know what options he has until the meeting anyway and maybe he'll change his mind?

Sorry to hear about your father, however, I have experienced this recently and for reading your post, I have decided to go and get checked.  Hopefully it is something or nothing, but if it was not for good people like yourself posting on internet, I would not be aware of it.  I hope all goes well with your fathers health
