Hi my dad is 78 and in May was told he has a tumour in his lower bowel. He has refused all treatment so has just been left to get on with things. They were talking about radiotherapy to stop the bleeding but can't even do that as they say it will make the growth swell and block his bowel. He's currently in hospital as he had a couple of falls and was subsequently diagnosed with kidney failure. They haven't told us what stage he's at or how long he might have left. We also don't know what to expect. Sadly Macmillan have been no help. I live 300 miles away so it is really hard for me not being able to visit every day. I rely on my family near to him to update me. I have a couple of questions. 1. Is it true that they don't give you any idea about how long you have left anymore? 2. Should they know what stage the cancer is? Should they tell us? He lives alone and I'm so worried about him.
