Just diagnosed

I am 72 and have just been diagnosed with cancer of the tongue.  Recommended treatment at this time is 6 weeks radiotherapy, which sounds as if it will be daunting.  Any advice would be welcome.

  • Hi Vatch

First of 30 sessions start on Monday. Very apprehensive but support on this site is very helpful. Will let you know how I get on.

  • Hi the radiotherapy is fine I treat going to the hospital like when I was working , have separate clothes black trousers n tops , get changed as soon as imam home save some the hassle of what to wear.

have personalised my mask say good morning to it ask if it’s had a nice weekend . The staff think it’s amusing , one word get cream off them mine gives sobrederm and end if week 3 tomorrow am a little red but nothing a jot. I do sun burn easily am a factor 30girl at the best of times.

No perfumes ni deodorant no bubble bath and scarf when outside as the sun will get you .

we can take our own music in not sire if uncan but worth putting a c d in your bag. I try to get morning appointments then at least rest of day I can nap if I need to as radiation tiredness soon takes over . I will send you a friend request if you want then we can talk in private . I check site once a day.

    look at my blog www.radioactiveraz.wordpress.com

Are you having chemotherapy? I am and now have horrendous mouth ulcers one of the side effects .
