This is undoubtedly a worrying time. Apart from the obvious shock, there is also a lot of uncertainty about what the best treatment plan will be. However, as more tests are done and the results come in, so the doctors will formulate the most suitable treatment for your father, and once treatment has started things will become a bit more settled. 

Unfortunately, there is no advice one can really give, other than don't panic and don't despair. Cancer is a frightening word, but treatments for prostate cancer are advancing rapidly.
