prostate cancer and me

Hi all,

Recently been diagnosed with   Gleeson 3+4=7 advanced prostate cancer. A bit scary, this. But have had first treatment with 3 weeks of the hormone tablets and then the first monthly hormone. jab. Seems to be doing something. I guess only time will tell..

    Hi rrcarcio. 

    Sorry I missed your posting before now.

    I was diagnosed with prostate cancer nearly 8 years ago, and I had a radical prostatectomy back in December 2010 (when I was aged 56) and so far it appears to have done the trick. 

    You mention your Gleason score, which is the same as mine on diagnosis (3+4). It is easy to get confused, but the Gleason is not the same as the stage. The Gleason score is a description of the cancer cells as seen under the microscope, whereas the stage in an indication of how much of the prostate has been infiltrated by the cancer, and whether it's spread outside. The stage is a number between 1-4, usually preceded by the letter T.  Do you know your stage?  Also, how old are you?

    hi, sorry to take so long replying but still trying to get my head around all this. I had a thing similar to what you had in 2008 at that time it was pre cancerous. Everything was ok until jan 2018 when everything went pear shaped. long story short my psa was 3.6 in sept 2016 but due to a home move didn't get another one til jan 2018 then it was 133.. took 2 months of scans, test and a biopsy to tell me i had stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. gone to my bones as in ribs and head. terrible head aches. But now after 3 weeks of hormone tablets then the jabs, i have just had my second one, am feelling much better. oh yeah, ill be 81 in august..
