Scared/worried

Hello all,

I was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of weeks ago. It was picked up when I was called up for a breast screening due to my age (49). Unfortunately it picked up a 14mm Tumour and I am having this removed this Thursday. The cancer wasn’t picked up in the lymph nodes under my arm but they will be removing some to test. My biopsy also came back as HER2 positive so after surgery I will be having chemo.  My doctor and Macmillan nurse have told me everything is very treatable but I’m really worried something will be found during surgery. I can’t get this doubt out of my head. Is there anyone who has been in a similar situation that can put my mind at ease xxx

  • Hi there all ... At least there's a few of you lasses on here waiting for the op, which will make it easier  ... Going back to last year, that's were most of us oldies (relitively speaking)  were and we kept each other going and we had " Jolomine  "   giving us info and holding our hands and one by one we got through ... And still here , all different grades and treatments ... But you can all do this together ...

I'm joining you with little op on 17 \ 18 th April (cant remember as blocking it out for a while ) got two pesky lumps popped up under my scar ... So they need removing and testing ... So I'm right there with you ... Got some spare boxing gloves for us all , so we can get in that ring and knock that buxxer  down ... Coz cancer wants us to give up and stay down ...

Think we'll have him on the ropes if we all stick together ... We can do this ... ; )).  Big hug to all ... Chrisie xx

  • Hi Eve.

Your op is nice and close now. Like Chrissy said it's the first step to getting rid of this so is a positive step. I cannot wait for the 13th for mine....who looks forward to an op lol?!?!

I'm trying to find practical comfy pjs at the moment which is proving tricky. Plus working, family etc. It's all a bit much at times. The shock caused me to have breakouts of eczema which is just clearing up. Also the lack of and interrupted sleep! I'm so tired all the time.

I will be thinking of you Thursday and when you feel able I would love to have an update on how you are recovering x

  • Men’s shirts are pretty good if you’re struggling! Just make aure that the buttons are the flat one’s. You’ll have sexy stockings anyway so your legs will be warm.

  • Hi Nikki, thanks for replying. I’m really tired as well. Napping all the time. I don’t know if it’s cancer or just stress. Apart from that I feel well, although I have been comfort eating a ridiculously huge amount of cakes. I don’t even really like cakes! The whole thing seems surreal. I suppose the feeling that it’s happening to someone else will vanish when treatment begins. Take care and good luck xx

  • Hi Cornishpasty,

i know exactly what you mean about the lack of sleep. I wake up at all hours in the night and I’m so tired in the day. I’m actually looking forward to the anaesthetic knocking me out so I can hav a decent sleep lol x

I’ll update you as soon as I can xxxxx

  • On the day of my mastectomy,  my other half, my son and daughter in law where all there with me ... they helped the day pass as I was last on the list ... then they gave me the wonderfull hospital gown .. green flowers down to my calf ... tied at the back ... hospital surgical stockings ... no make up ... and was told I could go back and wait with my family ... well laugh I nearly cried ... as I rounded the door to were they were sitting ... l started singing IM BRINGING SEXY BACK (JUSTIN TIMERLAKE) ....  Well that lightened the mood ...  sorry for that scary thought, it was rilleyroos mentioning the stockings that brought it all back ...   ; ))  x

  • Hi Criss, I have been warned about the very attractive stockings. I’ll be thinking of you when I put mine on lol xx

  • Hey Rileyroo. ....mens shirts....what a fab idea...other half is 6'3" so shirts are mahoosive lol. Looking forward to the stockings ...they sound stunning!

  • His shirts sound ideal! You won’t overheat in those!  The stockings are wonderful, not. At least it’s not summer cos they are very warm. Necessary tho. I had to wear them for two weeks post surgery, don’t know if that is standard.

  • Hi Eve.

I'm sleeping a bit better now at night but still exhausted during the day......i sleep whenever I can at weekends as can't really sleep at work lol. Onwards and upwards hun....we got this x
