Recently diagnose with cancer of the womb

I am having a hysterectomy on 13 March. I have been given 2 options regarding treatment. One being a trial and I have concerns about the lymph glands being removed which could cause swelling in the leg. The other option is the "tried and tested' option where the lymph glands are left in situ. From what I have read the removal of the lymph gands really concerns me. Any advice please.

  • Hi Susan

I would get as much information as possible regarding the treatment.  What stage your cancer is and what ongoing treatment would be required in both cases.  Try listing the pros and cons for each option it may help.

I assume its the Lymph nodes round the womb area they are suggesting be removed.  I did not have mine removed but never had to make that decision so dont know what I would have done.

Its difficult to say which to go for because whatever you chose you will always wonder if it was the right one.

Sorry not much help but try ringing the nurses on here for a chat.

Good luck and keep us informed.

  • Hi Susan, how did you get on and what did you decide? I have the same decision to make by Saturday before my operation.
