Whats next? New Diagnosis Lung Cancer T4 N2 M1C UICC IV

Hubby has just been diagnosed with Extensive Bronchial Cancer

T4 N2 M1C UICC IV  Adenocarcinoma

We understand its well advanced and he had two stents last week and the cancer is in the bones, some lymph nodes and upper kidney part.

He is on high pain meds.

I am quite depressed. My hubby less so because he had prostate cancer before in 2007/2008 which he beat. He wants to fight it. Is there any treatment because I am afraid they will only offer palliative care. Are there any experimental treatments he may be able to take part? Where can one find the information?

Thank you xxx

    Hi Enchanted,

Welcome to Cancer Chat, although I'm sure that you would rather be anywhere else but here.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's second cancer diagnosis. This must be very worrying for both of you.

My Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer initially and survived it for 12 years. In her final year she developed netastases in liver, lungs, brain and bones and she deteriorated very quickly then. I was diagnosed with cancer myself 7 years ago and had a second bout of primary breast cancer the following year.

I am not a medic, but as far as I know the likely treatment might be chemo to reduce the growth, assuming that he is well enough to take this. There are trials too, but his consultant would need to feel that this might help him. When is your next appointment?

Why not draw up a list of questions for your husband's consultant? It is always useful tro have one, so that you don't forget to ask them at the time of your appointment. ask him the questions that you have asked here. S/he should be best placed to tell you about trials.

Pain is a difficult thing to cope with as medication can make him very tired and nauseous amongst other side-effects.

I do hope that you can fins a suitable treatment to help him beat this again.

Please keep in touch and rememberm there is always someone here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regartds,

    Jolamine xx
