Up to a month ago we thought that my 61 year old husband was reasonably fit and well.
We were on holiday in Germany and he suddenly got quite ill and we thought it could be a heart attack. The A&E there found out quite quickly (second day) that the main culprit is Lung Cancer.
After 2 1/2 weeks in hospital and two stents being placed as the tumor is growing around the vein and aorta around the heart squeezing them shut, lots of tests, scans, MRI, and lots of other tests I cannot even name.
We got a report that he has
ED (Extensive Disease) Bronchialcarcinom (Adenocarcinoma)
T4 N2 M1C UICC IV
Spread into the bones and outer Kidney part.
Having done my bit of research it seems he is at the last stage of everything and I am afraid he may only be offered Palliative care and not treatment.
We are shocked, devastated, dismayed, angry and hurt.
These last few years when the UK doctors said he has asthma or COPD etc was probably all rubbish. It was the cancer all along slowly growing and spreading. They prescribed him antibiotics when he saw them a week before we went on holiday! Because its only a mild cold in the chest.
Now back in UK, a race to get his pain meds sorted and treatment.
