My mum is 49 years old and had a routine mammogram last thursday. She didnt think anything of it as she is used to having mamograms as her mum had breast cancer. I got a call from her at the weekend saying that she has an out patient appointment the following thursday (tomorrow). Shes obviously full of anxiety, as am I and I am a nurse myself. I am so used to breaking bad news and dealing with similar situations in a professional sense. But this is my mum and my anxiety is on overdrive. Its the not knowing at the moment and thinking of the worse scenario. I am meant to be at work friday-sunday and im already thinking about having to call in for compassionate leave. Ill be going to the appointment with my mum tomorrow, in hopes of being able to support her and clarify some of the medical infornation. Any advice you can give me for the appointment would be so helpful. Im just praying it all turns out ok but have to be prepared for the worst scenario
