Breast Cancer

Hello,I would like to introduce myself..I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer.  HER2.In November 2016 .

  • Hello,

    Welcome,

im sorry to hear you have breast cancer, I don't have cancer but have cared for my family members with cancer.  This is a lovely friendly site and there is always someone around to help with advice or to have a chat when you need to talk.

Wishing you the very best xx

  • If you have HER2 positive, ask for the 5 day cure treatment, it is available. Unfortunately I was HER2 Negitive, so it wasn't available for me

  • Hello LSO,

The treatment you’re alluding to is actually a drug combination which can potentially shrink HER2 tumours in 11 days. The results of recent trials have been very positive so far and while it is still in the research stages it certainly is one to watch for the future! You can find out more about the results of the trial from our Science Blog:

  • Hi .. sorry you have found a lump but you are doing absolutely the right thing by getting it checked out .. the waiting is the worst part. Once you know exactly what you are dealing with and have a treatment plan in place (if necessary), then it becomes easier.

I was diagnosed with lubular brass cancer last July .. treatment (mastectomy) was carried out in August and I have just had my 5th out of 6 Chemo cycles.  The times goes really quickly.

I have 2 beautiful young boys and a fabulous fiancè who had been my rock.  My friends have all also been amazing, helping with the boys when it's all got took much.

You will have your down days and you will cry .. it's ok to do.  If you do have cancer then the nurses are amazing - talk to them and to this chat.  Are you on Facebook ... there is a uk breast cancer forum wick is great too.  Good luck and hope it is negative and you don't have to worry anymore xxx

  • Thank you so much for you reply means a lot yes am on fb so I will have a look and I wish u all the luck in the world my dr has been amazing she has kept in touch to make sure am ok so that's good xxxxx

  • Hi Gemma, I was in the same situation 3 weeks ago. At the great clinic I saw a doctor first, then went straight to the X-ray department for a mammogram, it was looked at by a radiologist while I waited, then based on the result I then had an ultrasound. I then saw the consultant again who explained what they saw and why they wanted to do a biopsy. This was then done under ultrasound guidance. All of this took less than 3 hours. I admit the week waiting for the result of the biopsy did cause a lot of anxiety, but the staff at the clinic were fantastic. Unfortunately it did show breast cancer, but getting the diagnosis seemed to calm me down, of course I have had some wobbly times, but at the moment I am treating it as episodes to get through, I feel that is stopping me from panicking. Good luck for your appointment, I hope they are as efficient as my local hospital, please let us know how you get on x
  • Hi Ris. I was diagnosed with her2 positive breast cancer Feb 2013. Had the full works. Wide local incision. Chemotherapy Herceptin and radiation therapy. I'm still here. It is an aggressive cancer but there are a lot of treatments out there. Never heard of the 5 day cure. That's new to me. Any roads on my journey I have met ladies diagnosed with this type of BC over 10 years ago. They are still going strong. The younger of them continue to work holiday etc. Like everyone who has had a diagnosis of cancer it's scares and it never leaves. Focus on you and your treatment. It's nice to hear good stories but you will also hear scared ones too. Be kind to yourself and make sure you use the breast care nurses. Warmest wishes. WA
  • Thank you for your reply am so sorry u didn't get a more positive result hope u have a lot of support my appointment is on Thursday will let u know how I get on thank you xxxxx
