Thinking of you, I'm just waiting for a call of when I go in for the actual details following a colonoscopy 11days ago, they told me after the procedure they had found a tumour they believed was cancer and took bloods immediately, I've had my ct and mri scans now just waiting for them to tell me the rest, the waiting feels endless but on the other hand whilst I remain somewhat ignorant to the full picture I have moments of calm. Hoping they get your scans sorted and results to you quickly, and sort out your recovery plan xx

The reason I had the chemo was because even though they removed the tumour & it appeared I was cancer free, they said sometimes tiny cancer cells may break loose & they can't pick them up on the scans.

Waiting for results is always one of the worst parts.

In my case, I received my initial diagnosis after an endoscopy and biopsy. I then had a CT scan which gave me the extent to which the cancer had spread (the stage). The biopsy results confirmed the type of primary cancer and the level of difference between my cancer cells and normal ones gave me the grade (which enables the speed at which the cancer would grow to be estimated).

I received the CT scan results about 2 weeks after the scan during my first appointment with my oncologist. I was given the stage and grade then and we discussed treatment options. I started chemo a week after my first appointment with my oncologist.

I think the process I followed and the timings were fairly typical.

i was diagnosed last year June, had surgery and six months adjuvant chemo (which is prevention in case anything is missed).  We are all different so your experience will be unique to you.  Surgery was no problem and I recovered well.  Chemo is challenging but I worked all through mine.  Only intravenous week I worked from home.  There are a lot of drugs to counteract the side effects so the most issue I had was food tasted rubbish, my feet and hands were always cold and really tired.  Other than that it's not been anywhere near as bad as I was expecting.  I was on combo drug of oxiplatin and capecitabine

my story is a little different but wanted to give you a positive outcome from bowel cancer.

I had my surgery on 7/8/14. Woke up with a stomaa (ileostomy bag, which sometimes happens to give the bowel a rest after surgery ) My tumour was a Dukes A which is a stage one cancer so I didn't need chemotherapy.

I had my stoma for 8 months and then had reversal surgery in March 2015.  I have just had my second anniversary CT scan and am waiting the results. I consider myself to be a very lucky lady.

You are at the worst stage now, as you are going through the diagnosis stage and you cannot help but fear the worst, hang on in there, try to stay as positive as you can until you know what you are dealing with.
