Hi i did have the radio iodine tablet on 15 July and I'm at home since 16 July. I have a baby of 8 1/2 months. I want to know when is the earliest time i can be in touch with him. As he cries a lot and it's so painful to be away from him. Thank you.
I really feel for you not being able to cuddle your baby boy. I think its two weeks you have to wait until its ok to be near young children. Your doctor should have told you as it varies. Obviously you cannot breast feed at all and should have weaned him on to formula and solid food before the treatment began. The time will soon pass and you will be able to be a normal mum again. The hospital ought to have told you how long you have to wait. Were you given a letter which explained the treatment? I think the time depends on how much you were given. I had radioactive iodine treatment & was in isolation, away from everyone, for three days, then I was ok to be near people. I think you should phone your doctor or the hospital where you're treated to check.
