I had been to my GP about an irritation on my right temple that had been growing. He thought it was a sebaecous hyperplasia a benign growth and reassured me.  It continued to grow and was unsightly so I went to Cosmedics Skin Clinics thinking it was a cosmetic lump.  The surgeon was not overtly worrried but insisted it was best to send it for testing.  This was an additional fee and having been told by my GP it was ok I was reluctant to get pay the additional fee for testing and just wanted it gone.  In the end I agreed to the laboratory testing.  I am so grateful to the surgeon at Cosmedics as the testing showed it to be a Basal Cell Carcinoma with high risk features. I have now been referred on the NHS to the plastic surgery team who from my understanding will do a wide excision of the area ensure its all gone and not likely to recurr. The surgeon did mention Mohs surgery could be an option but is not that easy to get on the NHS as its generally done via dermatology surgeons and could be a long wait. Am I better waiting for Mohs surgery if offered it or seeing the plastic surgeons to have the surgery done sooner.
