Been told I have breast cancer

Got told today that I most certainly have breast cancer. I wont know more details until my biopsy results come in. But im completely spiralling and feel like Iv been hit by a bus.

They said the lump is very large and there is a second smaller lump also in my breast, as well as spread to my lymph nodes. Iv been told that my treatment will be 'the full works'. And im absolutely terrified that Im going to die and my children wont even remember me (i have a 3 month old and an almost 3 year old).

I felt this lump for a while but my breasts were quite lumpy when I was pregnant and in the weeks after so I didnt really notice it as anything worrying.

I guess Im just wanting to hear some positive stories, as the fact that it has spread to my lymph nodes is particularly worrying.

  • Hi Both,

Thank you for your good wishes. I collapsed when I went to answer the doorbell and gave my head a nasty bump on the door jamb. I had 2 CT scans when I was in hospital and fortunately, there doesn't seem to be any long term damage.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Nat818,

Just checking in to see how your results were on Monday.

    Hi,

Oh gosh that sounds scary, but glad your all OK!

My appointment on Monday went OK, although Im still a bit worried about things. My CT scan showed something on my spine which I have been sent an MRI for. My consultant said there's many things it could be, but I know that the spine is one of the most common places for breast cancer metastisis. So I'm trying to remain positive but am also feeling very anxious.

    Hi Nat,

I am sorry to hear that you have another frustrating wait for an MRI of your spine. Do you have an appointment for this yet? Here's hoping that the MRI doesn't show up anything untoward

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Nat,  your consultant is right.  My friend had a bone scan after her breast cancer treatment.  Something suspicious showed up on her hip bone but it turned out to be nothing significant.  When are you having your MRI?  I hope you are recovering Jolamine.
