I'm in a very similar position to you.  Just to give you some background information my 77 year old husband was taken into hospital on 17th January with unspecified problem.  (After telephoning 3 times for an ambulance and having to wait over 8 hours for one). He had numerous bloods, heart traces, and scans before it was discovered he had a perforated gallbladder and sepsis. In one of these scans it was discovered he had COPD but also a shadow on his left lung. When he was discharged from hospital after 27 days he was transferred to the care of the cancer consultancy. After pet scans, lymph node and lung biopsies we were informed that he did indeed have cancer. Unfortunately it's now spread to the top and bottom of the left lung lining and also the bottom of the right lung lining. We've been informed that he's too unwell to have chemotherapy due to his breathlessness and one form of radiotherapy is unsuitable because the tumour is close to his heart. He had another ct scan around 7 weeks ago and we are presently waiting for the next appointment with the consultant. He also has numerous comorbidities along with COPD so I think treatment is going to be limited. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your partner and I hope they offer you a treatment plan.soon.
