Breast cancer triple negative

Hi, I'm 33 years old. I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. I have two little girls and I'm worried about my future.

My mother keeps saying I don't need chemo and that she can help me overcome this with "natural" remedies and a very specific diet.

My doctors are very determined to get me into chemo as soon as possible as I have an invasive tumour.

I'm just tired all the time and although I'm trying to stay positive, this situation with my mum and her advice is making me anxious. How do you deal with situations like this? She lives in a different country so she isn't physically here to help, but she wants to help with information and advice. I'm just not sure how to take it all. She seems to disregard the doctors opinions.

  • Hi i have just been diagnosed with inflamatory breast cancer invasive carcinoma her2 possitive. It is frightening when you het the diagnosis, my oncologist has said they can cure with chemo her2 therapy and mastectomy. Its going to be months of treatment but it will save my life. I've also seen all these supposedly herbal treatments even people saying drink this tea and that tea it will cure it. Please listen to your oncologist there are so many treatments now. I know its your mom but she cannot trat you she is not medically trained and is probably seeing all the things on social media. I should be staring chemo nxt week and cant wait to get started. Me and my daughter call it bob the weed and the treatment is weed killer lol. I am taking vit d3 and magnesium glysonate. Also herbal teas to boost the immune before treatment begins.  Please listen to your team they are rhere to save your life. X

  • Hi Bianch I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  My mother-in-law is exactly the same, don't eat tomatoes, eat spinach or other kind of things like this.  She does mean well, but as Katdea says she is not medically trained.  You want the best for your little girls and your team know the best way to treat your cancer.  Your Mom probably is scared and feels helpless and just wants to do what she can from another country.  I had chemo for breast cancer and yes it is hard but worth it if it gets rid of the cancer.  You will hear lots of other peoples advice and it does get tiring but you have to try and ignore it.  One bit of advice I got which worked for me is to try and keep to your normal routine.  Trying to keep a normal routine will not only help you but help your daughters and family.  I did this when having chemo, got up walked the dogs every day (even if it was a short walk).  It made me feel a bit in control of things I could do. Do you have a date to start your chemo yet?  Good luck and happy to chat any time.  You are not alone.
