Basal Cell Carcinoma with infiltrative growth pattern - Waiting for a decision to be made about MOHs surgery but I might not hear anything for 2 months

I have after 6 months been diagnosed with BCC with infiltrative growth pattern, I have no idea if this is very serious I am waiting for a decision from a multi disciplinary team at another hospital if they will perform Moh's surgery. I've been told I should hear within the next 8 weeks. Can anyone offer some advice/ information please its been a very stressful process and a bit of a fight tbh. Thanks

  • Hello Jilty2

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma. It's understandable that you've found this a stressful time and that you may be feeling worried about the time you've had to wait to get to this point, and for the MDT to discuss appropriate treatment options.

BCC is the most common type of skin cancer and it's very rare for it to spread to another part of the body to form a secondary cancer. Hopefully this information will give you some reassurance whilst you're waiting for news.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it useful to talk with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. If you'd like to talk with them, they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully you will hear from the specialists soon. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
