Bone cancer

Hi I had estrogen positive right  breast cancer 13 yrs ago 5 weeks ago my left breast was sore so was fast tracked for a mammogram which was clear but the consultant decided to send me for a bone scan due to history which showed something on right top arm so then was sent for an MRI scan that showed cancer deposits in the marrow and bone this was informed to me whilst I was on holiday abroad Christmas eve of all days was quite a shock have now had a CT scan have been referred urgently to orthopedic surgeon and also seeing breast surgeon an MDT meeting is being held next week to discuss findings and arrange a plan

Very worried has anyone had this

  • Hi babslomax2k I had breast cancer in 2013, had op, chemo and radiotherapy and then tamoxifen.  Had pain in my hip and had MRI and this showed mets in my bones.  I had to have a bone biopsy as there is no sign of cancer in my breast.  It showed that it is secondary breast cancer and it had spread through the blood.  I was told over the phone too which I thought was a horrible way of finding out.  I cant have surgery because it is in all of my bones.  Hopefully they will be able to remove yours with surgery.  The waiting is horrible isn't it?  I am keeping everything crossed for you.

  • Hi Lee

I'm so sorry that this has happened to you too hopefully they can control it and give you a longer life without pain

I thank my GP and Breast surgeon for acting on it so quickly mine started with a sore left breast the other one was removed mammogram clear but due to my history the surgeon requested a bone scan and mri scan which showed it up still waiting for results from CT scan now have an app with orthopedic surgeon waiting to see Breast surgeon since the phone call which was awful as I was sat on a crowded bus on holiday trying to discuss this and totally spoilt my holiday

It's the waiting as you say that is horrible and haven't slept properly really hope you get some progress with yours thinking of you

    Babs x
