A warm welcome to Cancer Chat Deedeexx,
I am so sorry to hear you have just been diagnosed with kidney cancer and I wanted to wish you the best of luck for your operation. Not too long to wait now and I hope that it all goes well for you. We have information on kidney cancer on our website including on surgery for kidney cancer which I hope will help you feel prepared for the operation. If you have any questions at any time whether before or after your surgery, don't hesitate to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 - the helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
This is bound to be such a scary time for you and it is normal to feel a little bit overwhelmed. I hope that you will feel a little better with a little bit of help from your forum friends on here who have had a kidney cancer diagnosis and who have got through the operation. They will be able to tell you how it all went for them and they will understand better than anyone how you are feeling at the moment.
I remember welcoming another member recently, David-k who was having to make a difficult decision between having a total or partial nephrectomy and he described his situation in his kidney cancer thread and you are welcome to respond if you'd like to. Another interesting recent thread I spotted is this kidney cancer thread by Ang4173 and this member has already had a partial nephrectomy and one year on from surgery they might be able to tell you more about how it all went for them. Those are individual experiences and they will be different from one person to another but it is always comforting to hear from someone else who has been there and done it.
Best of luck for the operation - I hope it all goes well and that you can still recover in time to enjoy the Christmas celebrations with your loved ones. Let us know how you get on and how it all went if you get a chance.
Best wishes,
Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
