Waiting breast biopsy results but consultant confident it will be positive. I'm so scared of what comes next and need someone to talk to who understands

Hi all ,

Am absolutely terrified . Thought I found a lump 6 months ago that seemed to come , go then came back and stayed . Went to GP 3 weeks ago who didn't think it was sinister but referred me to breast unit . Had appointment on Monday and consultant after seeing mammogram and scan is confident it is sinister .. Now just waiting for biopsy results .. Lump is somewhere between 1.3 & 1.5 mm according to the images.  Am just so scared of what comes next and desperately need someone to talk to who understands x

  • I have a prescription waiting at the hospital since my enquiry this morning but it's 14 miles there and back so difficult to get a lift in to pick it up without asking my network of friends - they have done so much already..

Macmillan nurse says I could have the pain for more weeks to come as the nerves have been severed and it will take time to heal. I guess Its the pain that is so debilitating... It's difficult to plan anything as at present I feel vulnerable as I am so sore and fearful of being around lots of people in case they bump into me. Silly I know but probably understandable.

I understand tramadol is as serious in its side effects as codeine so wouldn't be happy with that. Have to see what they've given me once I can get to the pharmacy!

All the best and so glad you are doing well!

  • Hi Vivaldie I take tramadol four times a day and have been fine on it.  It does make me nauseous though so have to take cyclizine.  Codeine does not agree with me or my stomach.

  • Hi Lee thank you for your feedback on tramadol, I wonder if can you get it from the pharmacy or does it require a prescription as I've heard nothing from my doctor so they have not been any help at all?

Will look into that thank you...

  • Hi V

You definitely need a prescription for Tramadol  .

The only side effect I had was feeling a bit spaced out but that was when I took two . When I took one I had no side effects at all and was pain free .

How are you doing today ? xx

  • Thanks B for asking, I think I hit my lowest point the other day. Today I feel a wee bit better so hope that continues. As I said am a bit impatient regarding my progress.

All the very best to you..

  • I can understand  being impatient  but take it easy and enjoy the rest . Am sure when you have the correct medication and are pain free you will feel so much better .

Tramadol is great for nerve pain , that's why they gave it me when I had Bells Palsy .Every time I put my head on the pillow the nerve pain in my head was excruciating and I could sleep   one tramadol tablet and I was pain free and fast asleep all night !

Give your GP a call and see if they will prescribe you some  xx

  • Ha, getting hold of a GP is like finding the goose's golden egg!

    Will give it a whirl...

    Thank you again
