Newly diagnosed with stage 1 grade 3 breast cancer

Hi

I've just been diagnosed today following recent biopsies for calcifications.  Im struggling and feel so scared. I've been told I'll need 4 treatments, chemo, surgery, radiotherapy and then medication.

I have an MRI next week and I'm terrified it might show it's worse than they think. I won't get the results until 19th November. Can anyone recommend any tips on coping at this initial diagnosis stage. Im desperate to be positive etc but it's so hard and frightening.

Thank you

  • Hi Sazzle.  No issues in lymph nodes is good news.  I am wishing you luck with the biopsy on Tuesday.  Do you know what chemo you are going to be having  If you join the Macmillan forum there is a specific forum for breast cancer.  Big hugs.

  • Thanks Lee

I dont know what chemo yet. I presume ill find that out when I get my oncologist appointment? X

  • Hi SazzleD,

Im sorry to hear about your diagnosis and hope you’re able to keep your chin up and get through what comes next xx

Can I ask if your calcifications were picked up from a routine mammogram? I went for a mammogram and scan as I had been having odd tingling sensations in my left breast, and they picked up on calcifications in both breasts.  I had biopsies last week and I’m now waiting for the results.  Really not sure what to expect xx

  • Hi Vada-Fish

Yes it was just from my first routine mammogram. I still have no symptoms so no lump or anything.

I really hope your calcifications are benign and no further action is needed. As they are in both breasts it might just be normal for you. Its such a stressful time waiting for results. Are your results due this week?

Ive had more biopsies today so waiting for more results next week. Its exhausting.

Sending good luck and best wishes your way. Let me know how you get on x

  • I’m due to see the consultant on 11th December for the results.

I hope you get to start your treatment soon, I’ll be thinking of you and checking in on here to see how you’re getting on.

    Take care xx
