Bursting into tears i have been told I have lung cancer I feel quite lonely i do not know how to tell my grown up children

I feel lonely. i do not know how to tell my grown up children

  • Hi Lou I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  It is normal to feel scared and lonely.  Do you know what your treatment plan is yet?  I felt so much better when I knew what treatment I was having, I just wanted to start and get on with it so I could get rid of the cancer.  I am not sure how you would tell your grown up children, maybe phone the helpline on here tomorrow and talk it through with them.  I do know that you do need to tell them so that they can support you in treatment.  When is your next appointment?  Good luck and I am here if you want to chat.

  • Hi Lou,  I'm not sure if you have got a treatment plan, and at what stage your cancer is.

My son and daughter are in their 30s, I sat them down and told them what the doctor had said to me, all the time trying to look on the positive side, as I was told I would be having chemo and Immuno therapy, so that was a big positive for them, yes it will be a huge shock at first, but a little positively goes a long way.

Hope this helps, if only in a little way.
