Diagnosed 10 weeks ago with stage 4 lung cancer. Has anyone had side effects from Denosumab injections and Tagrisso tablets?

Hi everyone, I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to my spine and brain , I was being treated for suspected Rheumatoid Arthritis and waiting for a referral, well 10 weeks ago I had pain while breathing GP sent me for a scan and that’s when I received the diagnosis, it was a shock , things have moved quickly since then , my question is have any of you had side effects from Denosumab injections and Tagrisso tablets , I have a specific genetic cancer ( never smoked or drank and lived a healthy life of sorts ) I’ve had my second denosomab injection and my back is aching , I also have had some breathlessness and have had steroids to help with this , I’m having an xray tomorrow to rule out pneuminitis , I’m hoping I can carry on with my treatment

  • Hello Dogmam99 and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm really sorry to hear you were diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer a few months ago. You must have had a lot of thoughts and feelings to contend with upon receiving this unexpected diagnosis, but I'm glad things have moved quickly and your treatment has begun.

I hope this information we have about Denosumab injections and Tagrisso and the side effects that may occur from both will be useful in addressing some of your concerns but if it would help to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer your questions and support you on this journey.

Hopefully some of our members who have had either or both of these treatments will share their experiences and advice with you soon but in the meantime I hope your x-ray went well and that you will be able to continue with your treatment.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
